AIRPORT – HUNAS FALLS (APPROX 4.5 HRS DRIVE)

  • Having arrived in Sri Lanka, you will be greeted by both our representative and your chauffeur guide at the Airport.
  • Take a leisurely drive into the forests of Hunas Falls.
  • En route visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, which houses abandoned and wounded elephants, started back in 1975.
  • After lunch, continue the picturesque drive to Hunas Falls.
  • Spend the evening relaxing in night before an exciting day tomorrow.

 HUNAS FALLS

  • Rise early and venture into the depths of the forest, having a breakfast box in your hand.
  • This half a day’s trek takes you through tea estates, open pastures, exotic forests, a triangular-shaped forest patch, which looks like a gallery forest.
  • And look out for a number of birds such as the flower pecker, sunbirds and flycatchers during this walk.
  • Back to the hotel. Relax yourself in the evening.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

HUNAS FALLS – KANDY – HUNAS FALLS (APPROX 2 HRS DRIVE)
  • Enjoy your breakfast at hotel.
  • Today you will be taking a short drive to the relaxing hill station of Kandy, surrounded by virgin forests broken by the great Mahaweli River.
  • Kandy is also well known as the centre of Buddhism and the capital of the last Sinhalese kingdom.
  • Take a city tour of Kandy including the market place, Botanical Gardens of Peredeniya for an introduction to tropical flora and the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses Sri Lanka’s most sacred relic, a tooth of the Lord Buddha.
  • The Temple itself dates from the 16th century and the late evening view a dance performance featuring traditional dances from the different regions of Sri Lanka.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

HUNAS FALLS – NUWARA ELIYA (APPROX 3 HRS DRIVE)
  • Enjoy your breakfast at hotel.
  • Take a scenic three hours drive to Nuwara Eliya.
  • During the drive, relish the endless views of tea carpeted valleys, processing factories and the bright flash of “tea pluckers” in their pimento, fuchsia and cerise saris picking their way through the plantations.
  • Enroute visit a tea factory where the process of tea producing and grading will be explained. Once in Nuwara Eliya, you will realize that the abundant rainfall combined with sunshine, cold nights and misty mornings offers the perfect climate for producing high grown teas.
  • With brick and stone-built houses, rose gardens and perfect lawns, Nuwara Eliya in many ways resembles a ‘small English village’.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

N’ELIYA – HORTON PLACE – N’ELIYA (APPROX 3 HRS DRIVE)
  • Enjoy your breakfast at hotel.
  • For a complete experience of Sri Lanka’s panaromic mountains, travel just outside the town of Nuwara Eliya to the National Park of Horton Place.
  • The Horton Place were formerly the hunting grounds of the British Raj.
  • They form an undulating plateau over 2,000 metres high and are a beautiful area of grasslands, interspersed with patches of forest.
  • The area provides excellent opportunities for walking with panoramic views over the spectacular escarpment, known as World’s End, which drops a sheer 1,219 metres.
  • Take a slow and steady hike which also features Baker’s waterfall.
  • Return to the town of Nuwara Eliya and spend the day as you like. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

NUWARA ELIYA – COLOMBO (APPROX 4.5 HRS DRIVE)
  • Enjoy your breakfast at hotel.
  • Relish the drive past the tea carpeted mountains along the meandering rivers, pass the rice paddy fields to the coast of Colombo, staying at the outskirts in town of Mount Lavinia.
  • Once at the comforts of your hotel, relax on the much sought after beach.
  • If you have spare time, your chauffeur guide will introduce you to Colombo.
  • Visit some interesting features such as the old city of Fort, the main markets of Pettah, the Hindu Temple at Sea Street, the Dutch Church at Wolfendal, the historic Davatagaha Mosque, the Colombo Museum amongst others. Another option is to indulge in some shopping whether it is value for money clothes or impressive antiques. Later on in the day we would recommend dropping by the Checkerboard at the Galle Face Hotel for drinks while watching a picturesque sunset over the Indian Ocean. Back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

COLOMBO – AIRPORT (APPROX 1 HOURS DRIVE)

  • Enjoy your breakfast at hotel. As all good things must come to an end, your chauffeur guide will comfortably take you to the international airport in time for your return flight.
